On our first-ever NMM FRESH ARTIST SPOTLIGHT video we meet DJ Miller – this 22-year Evergreen Records recording artist and a rising star sat down with us so we could learn a little more about this talented performer, singer & songwriter. Please watch the interview above as he works his charms on our host for the segment, Rachel Winston. He’ll be sure to entertain you as he tells where got his “Elvis” moves or how did a Toilet Plunger fit into his early country music career…and what he can hunt right out of his bedroom window! What is obvious is that DJ Miller invests a lot into his performances and stage presence, and according to him he wants to make sure that weather you sit on the last row or in the front, you will always get your money’s worth. Hope you will get meet and hear him at a city near you some time soon…while we will definitely keep our sensors on DJ Miller’s increasing speed on the Music City fast-tracks!
To get introduced to his music a good place to start is checking out his music video for the single “Between Sundays” which runs on CMT Pure and recently was voted to the 12-pack Countdown as soon as it started airing.
Some get lucky in Vegas: Jessie James and Erick Decker announced their engagement and swung by the NASHVILLE MUSIC MINUTE broadcast suite in Las Vegas during the ACM AWARDS week just the day after of their new anniversary date. Decker currently plays wide receiver position for the Broncos and James is signed with Show Dog/Universal and just released a brand new single. The photo may not show the whole glory of the ring, but from what we could tell - the brilliantly shining rock in her finger was HUGE! Congratulations to the new happy couple! After Vegas James was off to promote the new single “When You Say My Name” which is already available on iTunes. You can also check out her new music video for the single on VEVO here.
Without a doubt , this year’s ACM AWARDS held in again in Vegas took the concept of Country Music Awards to an all new-level and raised the bar in many aspects of the production: most music numbers sported complex animated backdrops and sets that resembled those in big0budget music videos. What can we say? We can’t wait to see next year’s show!
The big wins of Taylor Swift for Entertainer Of The Year, Blake Shelton for Male Vocalist Of the Year and Miranda Lambert for Female Vocalist Of the Year as well as Album Of the Year were by the excited and sometimes emotional wins such as by Thompson Square for Vocal Duo Of the Year, Scotty McCreery for New Artist Of the Year, Eli Young Band for Song Of the Year (“Crazy Girl”), Lady Antebellum for Vocal Group Of the Year and Jason Aldean & Kelly Clarkson took home both Single Record Of the Year and Vocal Event Of the Year with their now ubiquitous duet “Don’t You Wanna Stay’. Congratulations to all nominees and winners!
Last year Luke Brian took ACM fan voting to an all new level and went after the web-savy fans with a hilarious viral YouTube video. This year, the fad seems to continue and already three ACM nominees have launched YouTube viral videos to get their fans excited: Eric Church, Easton Corbin and Randy Houser. Who will be releasing their video next is anybody’s guess, but we sure don’t mind the entertainment, so keep’em coming!
How about we vote who’s viral video is the funniest?
It seems the hot newcomer duo Steel Magnolia has the remedy against the winter freezes: They are turning up the heat – all the way and right from the start of the new year: Their debut, self-titled album hit the stores last week and was launched on 1-11-11…and according to Josh Scott Jones and Meghan Linsey – good things have always happened to them with number “11″. Well, only past 11 hours after its release the album had shot directly to No. 1 spot on iTunes Country Albums Chart. The album conveys a lot of history between the duo partners who met each other by chance at a Nashville Karaoke Bar. “Edge Of Goodbye“, which is in fact a break-up song, as Josh explains, was the “The first song [they] wrote together”, and “that’s kinda what brought us together as a duo and that’s kinda what started getting us attention around town was that song”. Other songs that have a big history on the new album include of course “Ohh La La” and “Keep On Lovin’ You“; the duo performed both songs winning the CMT‘s “Can You Duet” contest that landed them a record deal with Big Machine Records, also the home label of Taylor Swift and Rascal Flatts.
The steaming duo was also just nominated for their first ACM Award for Top Vocal Duo Or Group category and it was announced that they will be performing in the upcoming ACM Showcase concert special. The showcase will air on GAC network on January 27th at 10:00pm ET . Fans are encouraged to participate in voting for the ACM Awards that start the same day of the Showcase airing at www.voteacm.com
All the meanwhile, Steel Magnolia’s latest single “Last Night Again” has steadily climbed up the country charts and we can only assume it will be one busy spring for the duo touring and promoting their new album. We wish all the best for Josh & Meghan’s new album and congratulations on the ACM nomination!
