NMM FRESH ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: DJ Miller

May 15th, 2012

On our first-ever NMM FRESH ARTIST SPOTLIGHT video we meet DJ Miller – this 22-year Evergreen Records recording artist and a rising star sat down with us so we could learn a little more about this talented performer, singer & songwriter.  Please watch the interview above as he works his charms on our host for the segment, Rachel Winston. He’ll be sure to entertain you as he tells where got his “Elvis” moves or how did a Toilet Plunger fit into his early country music  career…and what he can hunt right out of his bedroom  window!  What is obvious is that DJ Miller invests a lot into his performances and stage presence, and according to him he wants to make sure that weather you sit on the last row or in the front, you will always get your money’s worth. Hope you will get meet and hear him at a city near you some time soon…while we will definitely keep our sensors on DJ Miller’s increasing speed  on the Music City fast-tracks!

To get introduced to his music a good place to start is checking out his music video for the single “Between Sundays” which runs on CMT Pure and recently was voted to the 12-pack Countdown as soon as it started airing.

Make sure to check out DJ Miller at www.djmillercountry.com, facebook.com/djmillercountry or @djmillercountry on Twitter.

Vegas spins big winners during the ACM awards week

April 5th, 2012

Jessie James & Eric Decker...and the ring! (Photo ©Jack Waren/NMM)

Some get lucky in Vegas: Jessie James and Erick Decker announced their engagement and swung by the NASHVILLE MUSIC MINUTE broadcast suite in Las Vegas during the ACM AWARDS week just the day after of their new anniversary date. Decker currently plays wide receiver position for the Broncos and James is signed with Show Dog/Universal and just released a brand new single. The photo may not show the whole glory of  the ring, but from what we could tell  - the brilliantly shining rock in her finger was HUGE! Congratulations to the new happy couple!  After Vegas James was off to promote the new single “When You Say My Name” which is already available on iTunes. You can also check out her new music video for the single on VEVO here.

Without a doubt , this year’s ACM AWARDS held in again in Vegas took the concept of Country Music Awards to an all new-level and raised the bar in many aspects of the production: most music numbers sported complex animated backdrops and  sets that resembled those in big0budget music videos. What can we say?  We can’t wait to see next year’s show!

The big wins of Taylor Swift for Entertainer Of The Year, Blake Shelton for Male Vocalist Of the Year and Miranda Lambert for Female Vocalist Of the Year as well as Album Of the Year were  by the excited and sometimes emotional wins such as by Thompson Square for Vocal Duo Of the Year, Scotty McCreery for New Artist Of the Year, Eli Young Band for Song Of the Year (“Crazy Girl”), Lady Antebellum for Vocal Group Of the Year and Jason Aldean & Kelly Clarkson took home both Single Record Of the Year and Vocal Event Of the Year with their  now ubiquitous duet “Don’t You Wanna Stay’. Congratulations to all nominees and winners!

Nashville is buzzing with Country Radio Seminar & Country Stars

February 24th, 2012

Nashville is buzzing with the annual  Country Radio Seminar, (CRS for short)  where the radio industry, the artists, the performers, the labels, the managers, the publicists and the media come together to see, learn, experience exchange ideas and perhaps most of all,  get introduced to newest talent . CRS 2012 is held Feb. 22-24, 2012, at the Nashville Convention Centre, downtown Nashville. During the 4-day Country mayhem Nashville will include many leading artists and special concert extravaganza….and Nashville Music Minute is right there, meeting with new & current artists and bringing the latest buzz from the Music City!

Big Machine Records’ Rascal Flatts received the CRS 2012 Artist Humanitarian Award in the Nashville Convention Center . Gary LeVoxJay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney received this honor based on their charitable contributions and humanitarian endeavors throughout the  multi-platinum selling trio’s career.   In 2010, the group donated $3 million to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt’s Pediatric Surgery Center. They currently serve as celebrity spokespersons for the national suicide prevention organization, The Jason Foundation, and have been members of the American Red Cross Celebrity Cabinet for the past seven years. Congrats goes to Rascal Flatts and Big Machine !
In other notable events so far included The Ryman Auditorium which filled up for Wednesday’s Lunch & concert by UMG Nashville and featuring line-up of their artists including Laura Bell BundyEaston CorbinScotty McCreeryDavid NailJosh Turner and LeeAnn Womack.
Yesterday, Lunch was on Capitol and featured  Alan Jackson and today’s Warner Music Luncheon was headlined by Faith Hill.
The Country Radio Seminar comes to an end tonight and the highlight show “New Faces Of Country Music” will take place at the Nashville Convention Centre. The show will be a showcase and introduction to the brightest new artists in Country Music. THus, tonight the stage is owned by Eli Young Band, Hunter Hayes, David Nail and Sunny Sweeney.
Thompson Square will not be performing tonight due to unfortunate news on Shawna Thompson’s father passing due to illness yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with Shawna, Keifer and their family during this difficult time.

NMM team also extends congratulations to the CRS 2012 radio humanitarian winners:KMOK/Lewiston Idaho ( small market ) :WIVK/Knoxville, Tenn. (medium market); and WLHK ( Hank FM) Indianapolis ( large market). The CRB presents the honor to these stations for “notable public service initiatives that improve the quality of life  for the communities they serve.”
